Other details

  1. Billing and Deposits

A $1,500 non-refundable deposit is required when booking your wedding. Your deposit will be credited toward the total charges. A second $1,500 non-refundable deposit is required 10 months before your reception date. Final payment must be made 10 days prior to the function by cashiers’ check. The tab for an open bar may be paid at the end of the reception, as long as it is guaranteed with a credit card. We accept Visa and MasterCard only. Deposits paid by credit card are subject to a 4% processing fee.

  2. Guarantees

In order to diligently plan for your special day, we must be notified of the exact number of guests fourteen (14) days prior to your event. This number will be considered the minimum guaranteed number of guests for which you will be billed. Any increase in the guaranteed number of guests is acceptable up to 4 days before your reception and will be billed accordingly.

  3. Accommodation Rentals

Rental of the bedrooms is always charged separately. The bedrooms are subject to MA state occupancy tax, currently 5.7%. The bedrooms in the mansion are all double occupancy; for any additional people, we require an additional $55 each.

For evening weddings, check-in time for the bedrooms is no earlier than 1 hour before the beginning of the function, and no later than a ½ hour before. (The function begins with the ceremony, or with the cocktail hour if the ceremony is being held elsewhere.)

Check-out time for the bedrooms is 10:30 a.m. on Sunday and Monday mornings. On Saturday mornings, it is 9:30 a.m. For Saturday afternoon weddings, the Estate must be vacated by 4 p.m.

  4. Liquor

Massachusetts State Law does not permit any beverages to be brought to or removed from the premises by patrons or their guests. All beverages, including liquor, beer or wine, must be supplied by the Harding Allen Estate. All guests or attendees consuming alcoholic beverages must be of legal Massachusetts drinking age and have with them a valid picture ID.

The bar is located inside the mansion. For large weddings, an additional beer & wine station can be set up outdoors (weather permitting) or in the pavilion, for a charge of $100 per hour.

During our Saturday afternoon time slot, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., for bars that are entirely cash, there is a bar set-up fee of $200. Otherwise, there is no bar set-up fee.

  5. Weather

At the Harding Allen Estate, we will do everything we deem reasonable to insure that your special day goes as you planned it. However, because of the nature of outdoor garden weddings, please be advised that we cannot guarantee against inclement weather, nor can we be held responsible for the consequences of it.

Note: For legal and safety purposes, and unless specifically set forth herein, The Harding Allen Estate reserves the right to control the operations of the wedding or function and use of the facilities.

General Terms

Alcohol

We give you a lot of flexibility on alcohol.

On the tables, you can choose to have bottles of wine, or champagne for a toast.

As for your bar, it can be open, cash, or a combination of the two. You can set limits on the open bar, such as a time limit, a dollar limit, or a limit on the type of alcohol (for instance, open for beer and wine but cash for mixed drinks).

Many facilities charge a flat fee per person for their open bars, but we charge you only for what your guests consume, which we’ve always found to be to our brides and grooms’ advantage.

Accommodations

If you hold an evening function with us, the bedrooms are available to you, but you are not obligated to take them. We have six bedrooms in the mansion, all of them double occupancy. (See the Accommodations page for details.)

Taken together, all six rooms cost a total of $900 per night, plus tax. (All room prices are subject to MA state occupancy tax, currently 5.7%.)

If you need additional rooms, there are a number of bed & breakfasts in and around town, and we would be happy to advise you!

The bedrooms are not available for Saturday afternoon weddings.
